Kisumu Impala Sanctuary

Set on the shores of Lake Victoria, the largest fresh water lake in Africa, Kisumu Impala Sanctuary is a peaceful, relaxing space that allows you to take in the serene and natural beauty of this gem, unwind and share great times over a picnic date or a hike along the trails with the impalas

The wildlife sanctuary hosts impalas, the rare Sitatunga antelope, lions, leopards, buffalos, giraffes, cheetahs and several primate species. Bird watching, nature walks and boat rides complement the activities visitors can engage in while here. Bird lovers can enjoy bird watching, and among other activities; camping, game and scenic viewing as well as nature walks. The sanctuary also offers great grounds for corporate and social events and also vantage points for sundowner views.

Other attractions in close proximity include; Kit Mikayi- located on the Kisumu-Bondo road, the famed rock stands tall from Kangeso village. It is popularly known as “the stone of the first wife,” as it resembles a woman with a load on her back. Kisumu Museum is another stop for visitors looking to indulge in the history of Kisumu. The museum is rich in displays of materials and culture of the people of Western Nyanza.

Hippo point is yet another spot located near the village of Dunga. Most people prefer visiting this attraction site to take in the beautiful sunsets. Hippo point has a beautiful camping site and a fishing port.
